Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet. (Instead, can powder bottom of dough with flour.)
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Combine these in a large bowl.
- 3/4 cup (6 oz) butter
Cut the butter in with a pastry blender.
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
Beat egg and milk together, then stir into the bowl until just moistened.
Turn out onto a floured board, knead briefly, then roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into pieces (8 for large, many for small) and space on baking sheet.
Bake 15 minutes until golden brown.
